A Beginning Or Ending Year

Israel’s Promised Land was “a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year” (Deuteronomy 11:12).  The “end of the year” was as important as “the beginning of the year,” to God. The beginning is filled with anticipation, hope, and promise. Paul told the Corinthian Christians: “It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have” (2 Corinthians 8:10-11).  It does no good to still want to do what we wanted to do a year ago. We must do it! - 12/27/2021

Help Wanted! - Mini Article Out Now

“Moreover the profit of the land is for all; even the king is served from the field” (Ecclesiastes 5:9). No society thrives or survives without workers earning wages. God made the basis of society a man-woman marriage (Genesis 2:22-24); and, after sin, women were given difficult childbirth and subjection to their husbands, and men were given work to live by (Genesis 3:16-19).“Man goes out to his work And to his labor until the evening” (Psalm 104:23). “The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, Whether he eats little or much” (Ecclesiastes 5:12). Ignoring heterosexual marriage units, or not accepting male-female sexual identities, or paying people to not work are all rejection of God’s Word! “The desire of the lazy man kills him, For his hands refuse to labor” (Proverbs 21:25). A community is crumbling when “Help Wanted” ads aren’t answered. - June 1, 2021

The Poverty of Riches

“But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition”              (1 Timothy 6:9). When “the desire to be rich” is all-consuming, nothing good results because:

(1) Wealth before God is nothing. “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.    (Proverbs 13:7). Faith, then fortune is right. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).

(2) Wealth before family is failure. “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3). Family is a “treasure chest.” “Better is a little with the fear of the LORD, Than great treasure with trouble” (Proverbs 15:16). - 5-11-2021

QA: Is it wrong to be afraid? - 3/14/2021

QUESTION: Is it wrong to be afraid? - 3/14/2021

ANSWER: The wisdom of Proverbs cannot be surpassed: Proverbs 10:24-25; Proverbs 28:1; Proverbs 29:25. Wicked people have more reason to live in fear because they do not honor God's wisdom in their lives; they naturally assume others also live as they do. Therefore they cannot assume anyone else lives honourably. A guilty conscience makes one afraid, but one who trusts in the LORD feels safe and bold as a lion. ... Read More of this and other QA in my Questions Answered page.

Truth Suppressed: Mini Article Available Now

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness”          (Romans 1:18). Even Jesus had difficulty getting Jews to accept the truth about Himself: "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me” (John 8:44-45). Suppressing truth doesn’t change what is true. “Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?”        (Galatians 4:16) Speak “the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15).
