“But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks” (Ephesians 5:3-4). Surely we can see that filthy, smutty, dirty language that spews from a person's heart cannot be canceled out by an hour or a day of “Thanksgiving.” Jesus made this very clear when He said: “Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). “Thanksgiving” should not be confined to a day, but to a way of life, and a change of heart. David said: “I will wash my hands in innocence...That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving” (Psalm 26:6-7). - November 22, 2021
