QA: Is My Dead Mother Watching My Children Grow?

QUESTION: Isn't it comforting to know my dead Mother is watching my children growing up? - October 20, 2019

ANSWER: It is a myth to believe that a person, after death, stays in touch with life on Earth. This myth contradicts what God says in the Bible.

1. Jesus clearly described the afterworld in Luke 16:27-31Jesus clearly indicated that: (a) The rich man knew only what spiritual condition his brothers were in at the time of his death, but not since; (b) No one ... Read More of this and other QA in Questions Answered.

Thanksgiving Without God? - Mini Article Now Available

It's impossible to have a “Thanksgiving” unless there is someone to thank!  The Apostle Paul wrote: “I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day” (2 Timothy 1:3).  (1) God is the only source of blessings to thank, so:  "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD” (Jeremiah 17:7).  (2) Having a “pure conscience,” then: “Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies” (Psalm 40:4).  (3) Being constantly remembered in prayers, so that: “Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked” (Proverbs 10:6). To some it is “Team Game Day,” to others it is “Turkey Game Day,” to Christians it is “Thank God Day.”       - November 18, 2019

A Religious Poll: New Mini Article

“And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, ‘Who do the crowds say that I am?’ So they answered and said, ‘John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again’ (Luke 9:18-19).” The opinion on the street was: (1) speculative; (2) divided; (3) wrong! Did Jesus say, “Each one has their own truth?" or “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion?” OR “It doesn’t make any difference what they believe and practice?” None of these. Jesus said to His disciples who had seen His miracles, heard His teaching, and followed Him, ‘“But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God”’ (Luke 9:20). Prayers for unity without accepting what the Bible says avail nothing!

QUESTION: How safe are we in worship? - January 5, 2020

ANSWER: On December 29, 2019, [a church of Christ in Texas was targeted in a mass shooting]. ... 1. The state of Texas had made it legal to carry guns in church worship. ... 2. Only Follow Your Heart: Mini Article

Children are raised with the encouragement to: “Follow your heart.”  But this advice ignores the warning: “O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).  God rejected people who “walked in the imagination of his evil heart " (Jeremiah 11:8).  After punishing them, God said: "they shall walk no more after the stubbornness of their evil heart” (Jeremiah 3:17).  None of us knows, completely from our own hearts, how to do good and not evil.  The solution?  “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!” (Psalm 119:11).   Children should rather pray: “Direct my steps by Your word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me” (Psalm 119:133).

It’s so depressing to think Evil is winning. What can we do to keep from being discouraged?

Question: It’s so depressing to think Evil is winning. What can we do to keep from being discouraged?

Answer: “We do not lose heart” means “we do not give in to evil.” The Bible gives us reasons why we do not: 1. We can pray to God.

More of the response can be found in Publications On Covid Quarantine 2020.
